Most people don't. Not really. A label says a country, sometimes a city. It rarely says a name.

Every STANDISH. piece is made at MAEKNIT, a knitwear factory in New York City, by people we know by name. Built by hand, stitch by stitch, decision by decision.

We're introducing our new YouTube channel and the first feature in our Meet the Makers series: Mallory Epping, co-owner of MAEKNIT.

Mallory has spent years learning what it actually takes to build something from nothing. How a pattern becomes a sample, how a sample becomes a piece you can trust to hold its shape wear after wear. She's seen what happens when that process is rushed, and what happens when it isn't. She knows what it takes to run a successful business. In this first conversation, she shares some of that with us.

This is the first of three features. Two more follow in the weeks ahead, each one a closer look at the people behind what you'll be wearing.
